An Eye to Space

Medium: Paper, cardboard, lights

Summer 2016

Dimensions: 1.5m x 1.5m x 1.5m

"My intention of creating this 3D art piece is to encourage children to develop creative imagination and understanding of 3-dimensional space and depth.

Through fully utilizing the negative space created from the carve-outs of the layers, I focused on resembling the galactic beauty of the stark contrast between the mysterious darkness and the bright stellar lights.

The transition between the stages of distinct settings, backgrounds, and characters allows the children to experience a process of transformation in their imagination as they picture different scenes of themselves, traveling through various places, interacting with different creatures, and admiring the cosmic beauty."
